COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This advanced science course concentrates on the study of both plants and animals. Botany involves learning about the structures of plants while Zoology focuses on the various animal groups.

This class utilizes lectures, laboratory activities, dissections, group presentations, and field trips to emphasize the major scientific concepts.

This course meets the California State University and University of California laboratory requirement for Life Science.

 
 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify specific anatomical structures and physiologic processes in animals.

2. Know plant structures and understand the relationship to plant physiology.

3. Recognize the diversity in both plant and animal phyla.

4. Appreciate the ecological and evolutionary relationships between phyla.

5. Understand the basis for plant and animal classification.
